Medicare
« on: January 04, 2010, 09:06:06 pm »
I am going on Medicare March 1st so I am spending a lot of time learning about Medicare.  And researching a secondary insurance company.  Medicare customer service has been wonderful.  You can call them 24/7.  It is easy to get thru and they spend a lot of time with you.  I have learned a lot.  But they can not recommend a secondary insurance company.  I was wondering if anyone on FS has had personal experience with Medicare.  And can share some words of advice when it comes to a secondary insurance company.  I am aware that there are different plans in different states and even within counties in the same state.

:)   If I am not mistaken, Medicare is limited. It covers basics. If you enroll in a health program thru your employer, it is better, much, much better because it will pay what Medicare does not cover.

:sad1:I'm on medicare. I also have medi-cal, which is crap. I don't trust Dr.,s, because they once kept sending me a bill for something medicare paid for. I had to go in, and SHOW them that medicare sent me proof that it was paid.. The Dr.'s around here commit a lot of fraud.

While I agree with you, not everyone is fortunate enough to have an employer and even some that do, do not have the option of "affordable" health care insurance.

medicare is a good option for those that need it and it has changed a lot in the last decade.  I only know as I have dealt with my parents Medicare issues.  You do need to keep your paperwork -- sometimes clinics, dr. office's ect know less about your coverage and you sometimes have to do the leg work to show them
