« on: December 21, 2009, 08:25:28 pm »
HOMEMADE SALSA

1 (16 oz.) can whole peeled tomatoes
1/2 med. onion, chopped
1 bunch green onions, chopped
1/2 head garlic, chopped
3-4 hot jalapenos & juice

Combine all of the above; cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving. (Onions, jalapenos and juice should be adjusted to individual taste.)

WOW thanks a bunch, never thought i'd get anything useful off of this site. I was really wanting to make my own custom salsa. Could you use differant peppers though? The jalapenos seem like they'd ruin it, i have a low heat tolerance heh. Thanks

I'm sure that you could use other types of peppers.  Habeneros would give you the hottest I suppose.  You could always use sweet peppers for a mild taste, but I'm not sure it would taste like normal salsa.  You might just want to try adding fewer jalapenos.

I made salsa with a mix of peppers this year and it turned out great. I did have some hot peppers but I added mild and sweet peppers too. Cilantro can be added. I believe they say it makes the flavor better.

Salsa just isn't right if it doesn't have cilantro.

Now that Sounds D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!   A main reason why I love salsa is because you are getting your servings of vegetables in and its soeasy to !

Thanks for the recipe I love salsa and those black chips.  I am going to make some for me and my family.  /i usually buy salsa or hummus for the chips but I prefer salsa.
