I have the Sonic Complete and I change the head every three months.  Every 1.5 months I soak the head in Baking Soda and Peroxide.

Not as often as I should!  Once a year.  I can't stand it when my husband uses my toothbrush either.  You wouldn't think it would matter, but it really grosses me out.

I change brushes once every three months religiously.  I even mark it on the calendar. ;)

However, like a few others said, if I get a cold, flu, strep or what not, the brush gets changed immediately after... strep no later than 48 hours after the start of the antibiotics, though.

I try to do it every 6 months but really only do it when I remember.  Right now I can't remember when I bought the one I use now.  But I use three different toothbrushes so maybe I won't have to change them that much since they get used at different times.

For me, I change around every 4-5 months or so. I use an electric thing in the morning and a regular in the evening so I change the regulkar one more often than the electric thing.

Yeah I really should do it more than I do, but at the moment it's about every year.  It's not the sort of thing that I plan.  One day I'll just be in a store and think 'When was the last time I got a new toothbrush?  Ugh, way too long!'
