Reno, Nevada
« on: December 08, 2009, 02:07:52 am »
I live in Austin, Texas.  I have lived here since 1972.  My life is decent but I am burned out on the place.  It's time for change.  I have been thinking of Reno, Nevada.  Any thought about that?  Any feedback or suggestions?

:(  Not a good (wise) move...maybe...Las Vegas, there is more action there!

go try to live in nevada far a month - you'll be glad to get back to texas as soon as you can - i've been to every state in us and have lived in most - take a month visit to nevada - don't sell your house because you'll be back - just the cost of the move can break you - i'm always glad to get back to florida - IMHO >> In My Humble Opinion - The MUSEUM, Zazzle, deviantART, ArtFire, FineArtAmerica

Great advice. We were burned out on Denver - so large, so expensive and the traffic was awful.  Moved to Ohio.  Love it here but, as the others said, try is for a month or so before you sell your house.  Our move cost a freaking fortune.  If I were to do it again, I would sell or dump all my stuff - amazing how little you really need.

Reno is very dry and brown a good part of the year....desert really.  And hard to sell real estate there I have heard.

I live in Baton Rouge, LA.  So if I moved I would also want a change of weather...in other words, colder.  I LOVE Colorado Springs, Colorado and Denver.  I would suggest a move to there.  The "action" in Reno and Vegas would probably get old.  Of course so would the snow so I'm not sure. lol.  I like Austin TX though.  I have a cousin who lives there and try to go a couple times a year.  Besides Austin has plenty of action.  Personal preference I guess.  I would be nervous moving permanently to anywhere.  Good Luck
