celebrating birthday
« on: February 02, 2023, 05:14:34 pm »
My son died 2 1/2 years ago in a bad accident. His birthday is in March, and we like to acknowledge and celebrate his birth even though he is no longer with us. Any ideas on how to honor him on what would be his 29th birthday? He loved the outdoors, colors blue and purple, cars, Ohio State Buckeyes, strawberry crunch ice-cream bars, and could make anyone smile no matter how upset you were. I want to do something different and special. Thank you in advance.

Just a quiet remembrance where you sit around and speak of him sounds like a good way to honor him to me.

I'll bet he was really quite special to you all.

I'm so sorry you lost him.

Sorry to hear. Since he loved outdoors, maybe a joggin run in his honor or some outdoor activiyt like fishing or camping. Maybe a nature walk in the woods.

Maybe set up a page to make donations in honor/remembrance of his birthday for a cause that he liked.

I'm sorry you son was taken before his time and I have some understanding since my son died when he was 5 years old on September 6, 1969 in a fishing accident where he was swept out to sea and never found. I still think of him, but I spend my time concentrating on the 5 sons I was given since then and the 13 grandkids that followed. There will be time to share with my 5 year old son when we meet again on the other side.

I'm sorry for your loss.  My 4 year old grandson passed away on Easter in 2020.  He fell into the swimming pool and died.  This happened during the pandemic so my daughter and son-in-law decided to have him cremated because he didn't like bugs so we just couldn't bury him.  On his birthday the following September we had a little remembrance for him with family and friends.

I am also sorry for your loss.  I also have two miscarried babies in heaven, but no other living children because of secondary infertility on top of my losses. No grandchildren either. It is hard to deal with losing all of my children. I am happy that you have others to focus on. I am sure that helps.

How heartbreaking for your family. Zach was killed in May of 2020. We were blessed to have a funeral home that allowed us to have a "normal" funeral without restrictions. I know many struggled with those issues during the pandemic.

To all of you who have lost children, grandchildren, etc., I send my condolences.  :notworthy: I have lost some myself and I know the pain is very real.

As a matter of fact, one of my granddaughters just experienced an ectopic pregnancy and had a very hard time. She's okay now, but she lost the baby, of course. So sad for her and her husband but God has a plan that we mortals do not understand. Fortunately, I believe that they are still cared for by our heavenly father. It's the only way to cope with the loss; knowing that you'll see them again someday.   :'(

I love you guys.
