Floaters in eyes

Woke up this morning and have these dark threadlike objects in my left eye. I can still see but they float all around in one eye. A pain when working. Any ideas here?

Sorry I don't have any ideas about this.  I sometimes have floaters in both eyes.  I have had cataract surgery on both eyes so that isn't the problem.

Call and check with your doctor, just to make sure it is not a big deal.  Maybe it is nothing, but better safe than sorry.

Be careful, my mom had some floaters and some pain. She ended up with a detached retina. It can be bad if not addressed by an eye dr.

Sounds to me like a "call the doc" time. Bite the bullet.

I have had those on and off for years and was told by my eye doc to just deal with it. It comes with age and there is no cure.

I would get them but no pain.

Here is how i describe them.You look at a barbeque grill thats hot and you see how the hot air looks above it.

Again i never had pain and would wash my eyes out softly with water and put good eye drops in them.They usually lasted less then an hr.

I had cataracts done a yr ago.I was getting some itchy eyes at times and it would feel like i had an eyelash or piece of dust in my eye.I saw the eye Dr and she said i had a clogged tear duct.She told me warm compresses and good eye drops help and she was right.

I have them all the time. They started about 10 years ago. Eye doc said no problem but they are aggravating at time. It started while at a picnic when a gust of wind came up. I got dust in my eyes and it drove me nuts. Then I started with "gold-colored flashes" along with the black floaters. All are less now but I have permanent small ones that won't go away.   My eyes are also very itchy and watery. Eye doc says no problem there either. It's from being on the computer all day. Years ago I asked for computer glass lenses but never received them. This new eye doc didn't give me them either so I just live with the problem. Some days my eyes are so blurry, I can't see well at all. I'm looking for a new doc now. My old doc retired (hate when that happens) and the new one is only an optometrist. With my age and diabetes, I need the full testing for macular degeneration, glaucoma, etc. Those two run in my family. So I'm looking again.

Have you tried an eye wash or eye drops? Usually the thread type could be debris from bedding or animal hairs.

   Google it and see what answers you can find. In the meanwhile, do not forget to protect your eyes.
Use sunglasses, hats with a brim, lubricating eye drops and other ways to protect your eyes. Use your computer for one hour and take a break...and go back later. Do not use your computer for two or three hours in a row. Check the quality of your light bulbs at home and work. Try to find and use light bulbs that are easy on your eyes.

That's a new one for me, how long should your breaks last? Later is not a good measure of time.

Thx for the ideas and advice. I have no pain and some days are better than others. Nighttime is fne but day and looking at pc makes it annoying.

Same here, I just keep on keeping on and don't worry about it, worry doesn't do any good anyway.
