Tell you a story.
Some time back, when my son was working for an advertising agency, he had access to tequila retailers.
He had photographed tequila bottles for one of his campaigns, one bottle was selling for 35,000 dollars, but
in his brochure he had some bottles selling for somewhat more reasonable prices.
When he was visiting, I had a few friends over so meet him and of course his work came up in the conversation.
He showed us his brochure, and since all of us had never seen or heard of some brands, questions were asked.
There was a bottle there, pictured, that sold for $599.00, and our interest was piqued. Three of us decided to
buy the bottle, together, as my son told us that he could get a discount on the bottle as he knew the owner of
the business. Nevertheless we came up with the whole $599.00 price and ordered the bottle through him
A few weeks later he came and delivered the bottle. Wow, talk about a fancy bottle, all curved up and sculptured
like a statue. I kept the bottle in my bar for weeks, and later I was notified by my friend, one who had agreed to
buy the tequila bottle, that he was getting married.
But, and this is a big but, I had opened the bottle and had tasted the tequila, amazing taste, like liquid gold, smooth
and easy to drink. Easy to keep on drinking also, but I only had a taste.
So I decided that I would take the bottle to his wedding, together with our friend, also invited to the wedding,
and on the day before the wedding, on the hotel lobby, we asked for glasses, and enjoyed the bottle.
Other guess that were there, surprisingly did not ask for any. Thought we offered. See, all three friends have been
friends since high school. This was our friend's second wedding, as he had lost his first wife to cancer, and all were
happy that he had found his second mate.
We paid 350 for the bottle, got change back from my son, who did not attend the wedding, and we rocked it that
night. Drank the whole bottle. I do not know if my friend was any good on his wedding night, as he was mildly
hung over on his wedding day, but they are still happily married, so that is a good sigh.
The drink, the drink. Smooth, not a bite on it. And the more of it we drank, the better it was. I wish I could
remember the brand name of it, but for some awful reason we dumped the bottle, later learning via the internet
that the bottle itself, is worth, bottle collectors, 35 dollars.
It would have been good to keep the bottle for memory sake, maybe not for the new wife, but for us old folks,
friends for life, looking at the bottle now would bring back good memories.
Yes, Yes the new wife welcomes us at her home and makes it a point to be a friend and is continuedly in touch.
Good people.
