I work outside the home in a restaurant in a very small town. We initially shut down on St. Paddy's Day this year, and reopened the 1st week of May. We had zero cases of COVID in our county for many months. I think it was August when the 1st ones happened. Our Governor asked for everyone to mask up if our county had more than 4 cases at any given time. So we did, but even when it got down to just 1 active case, I still wore my mask always at work and anywhere else outside my home. I was pretty sure it was not over. I was right. Earlier this week, an employee tested positive and we are once again temporarily closed down. The employee pretty much went without a mask and therefore put us all at risk, but I stood my ground and kept wearing one every day I worked. Even customers stopped masking up, which made me angry. Now we have about 28 active cases in our county, and I know several of them personally. We are scheduled to open up again on the 19th, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised if another employee contracts it. I get SS and have a side business at home, so I'm not worried about a paycheck. I filed for unemployment too, as I did not qualify for it back in March. To have this pandemic behind us would be absolutely wonderful, but in my opinion it won't happen until there's a vaccine or until all people social distance and wear a damn mask or some other covering. It so very much irritates me that some people just don't "get it"!

If you draw social security and have a side business then how are you getting unemployment as well?  You can shove the vaccine up your rear.  The majority of people have said they are not going to take it.  What irritates me is how stupid people can be and how they believe everything the lying media tells them.

Every person I know who has had this virus with the exception of ONE person wore a mask every time they left their house and they still got it.  The mask is not going to keep you safe.

I work from home for 2 of my jobs.  My husband is out of work and because of his age they keep telling him he is also overqualified and has to much experience.    And as usual you do not know what you are talking about CG if you are old enough you can get social security and unemployment insurance if you are still working.  Also every job he applies for they have about 20  or more other people applying.

Yes, I know what i am talking about.  ::)  No you legally cannot get social security, work and also get unemployment.  Maybe it is different in your state. Maybe some people find a way around the rules that apply to everyone else. I know a guy who draws social security and works part time at a seasonal position.  When he gets laid off he is not able to draw unemployment.

And if you READ what I said I never said you can't draw unemployment.  I asked a question.  HOW are you drawing social security, running a side business, and drawing unemployment all at the same time.  And the question was not even asked to you.  But then I forget the "side business" is taking surveys which is not a real job and therefore does not count.

I find it extremely hard to believe when people say they can't get a job anywhere doing anything when every place you go in is begging for help saying they can't get anybody to work.  It has been all over the news with companies every where saying the same thing.  So somebody is lying.  Either the people who say they are trying to get a job or the companies who say they can't get anybody to work.  ???

I hope you get more business. But happy you found some way to earn money. So many people haven't.

I have fully embraced working full time from home. Prior to the Pandemic I was working from home two days a week. Since our company, over 8000 employees, have started working at home we have seen project quality increase by over one hundred and twenty five percent and quantity exceeding one hundred and thirty five percent. Our management was reluctant to pursue the work from home path but these production numbers appear to have them thinking about going fully mobile. People appear to be using their commute time savings to come in/leave work earlier/later. People also seem to be finding a better work balance. We created a competition to post big personal projects that have occurred during CoVid and the photos are amazing. I added a four hundred square foot flagstone patio and made my waterfall considerably bigger (more than double).
