Why Did I Get Married?
« on: December 14, 2009, 10:45:26 am »
I dont understand why people end up getting married,.. it seems when two people that are happy finally get married everything turns sour and goes downhill. So.. why get married?

really? I didn't see much of a change when I got married.
As life goes on things can get more complex - married or not married.... married only makes it a bit more difficult to just up and walk away (in theory)

"I'm in complete agreement with Valerie. " --> now that is something I don't expect to hear from my husband! :)

Whenever two people are together there is conflict -- it doesn't have to be major conflict and you don't have to be married to experience it, but no matter how easy going we are -- we all like things "OUR" way.

I know that biggest thing for most women is the RING and the ceremony itself. For me, I think it's just a matter of what two people want. Traditionally, we are shown that two people should be married to live to together. In today's day and age, the biggest problems occur with this population. Divorce and the drama...

I know some of the happiest couple whom are NOT married, but have been living together for more than 7 years. They don't have any plans to get marry and don't buy into the traditional ways of things. There are others, forced and pressure by social environment to get married and live their "right" path. They may be happy or unhappy...
For the normal married couples (how ever many there is in the U.S), I believe it is admirable to have such traditional carry on. I just don't see this being the predominant ways of doing things in the future.

Personally, I would not rush to be married. If the day does come when my prince charming appears, I surely give it a try.

I have to agree...why? I was married for 24 years, spent 231/2 wondering WHY did I do this and how do I get out of it now? Marriage is great with the right person and I envy those people that have the life-long thing.

marriages is a social contract for children - nothing more nothing less - marriage is not because you loove someone - you can love thousands - usually only one at a time by law - so why get married - the only reason is because you wish to have children with the one you wish to marry - about 99 percent of the problems people have in marriage is about money - your money - their money - less than one percent is because of bad sex - but good sex can over come most money problems - so is your problem - money or sex - one last thought - marriage is very hard work - so unless you want to work real hard 24/7/365 - save yourself the pain and others to - don't get married - but if you love children - then nothing - pain - money or family can stop you - IMHO >> In My Humble Opinion - The MUSEUM, Zazzle, deviantART, ArtFire, FineArtAmerica

I had all my kids before my husband and I were married.  Also, marriage is hard work but so is any rewarding relationship or anything else in life for that matter.  If you want something, you work hard for it.  If you want to get through college, get that promotion at work..you work for it.

Why? Because of the wonderful world of Christianity!!! If ya end up having a child out of wedlock thats a huge bundle of joyful sin right there! We are all taught from a young age that when ya grow up ya got to go to college.. get a good job.. get married.. buy a house with a white picket fence.. and have a family!! That's what the american dream is all about!! Go america!!

Getting married to someone you love feels so right unless one of you  will changes after some times.

I sincerely hope you're being sarcastic.  Sensed it but you could also be one of those weird religious fanatics.
