Out of the comfort zone.
« on: May 14, 2020, 06:55:10 am »
I stepped outside the other night to see what was happening down the street.  As I was watching that unfold I noticed my neighbor spraying his yard.  Killing what people think are weeds.  Well I said something to him about it.  I was nice.  I think.  I did get my point across.  Told him what it was he was killing and why he probably shouldn't.  One of the claims I made to him is that he will probably need that food when the stores are empty.  That brought up the price of meat and how little there is on the shelves and that you can only get a limited amount.  He continued to kill the clover and dandelion and other things that are edible.  I so much didn't mind him killing his food, but those chemicals blow to my yard.  That is what my concern is.  I don't use chemicals in my yard.  I eat the lambs quarter, and clover.  I like the look of dandelions.
My saying something, surprised me.  I normally don't confront people.  Even though it didn't change what he was doing,  I felt better for talking to him about it.

At least he was trying to keep his place nice.  A lot of homes let everything go bringing the value of every home around them down.  Besides being an eyesore.

People have a right to use whatever stupid cancer causing chemicals they want on their own property, but I do hate that it drifts over property lines into my garden and gets into groundwater and whatever else. White vinegar actually is an okay weed killer, very cheap, the only downside is it takes multiple applications.

Can you cultivate your greens in a more protected area of your property?

our yards are connected in a way that it is all connected front and back.  I also think there are better more safe choices for this job.  But I was happy to see that, the next day the dandelions were up and more beautiful than the day before.

He is not killing his food.  There is no nutritional value to grass. With most people it would not go well for a neighbor to tell them not to kill weeds in their own yard.

There is no shortage of meat in my area nor is there any limits on how much you can purchase. FYI you can live without meat. Eat vegetables. This world is in such a mess I would think killing weeds would be the least of someone's worries.

Not sure how you think spraying weed killer in a spot in your yard is going to make that get in to your drinking water.  The water is purified.  Think of what all is in a toilet. THAT is in your drinking water.  SO I am not too concerned about a little weed killer.

I dont even like it when the landscapers cut our grass. The noise and then the fumes from the blowers.

If someones weed killer fumes were coming over to our house i wouldnt appreciate it.

Dont u guys see a leading weed killer has been linked to cancer?
