Wow!  That's a new one.  I can't even imagine how that would work.  Would somebody use a bot to answer survey questions?  I guess there's always gonna be someone trying to beat the system!
Yes, some people create programs to help them get through surveys faster. By doing that, they provide gibberish answers and thus the results are skewed. The bot checks are to prevent people from doing that.

I completed the bot check on a Tap Research survey successfully and it said I was suspected of being a bot. I was asked to try another check, which I completed successfully and I was able to continue with the survey. Has anyone ever been suspected of being a bot after successfully completing the bot check?
I have never been accused of being a bot but have had to complete as many as 15 of the click the this or that in the picture. Last time that happened I was ready to just quit.

:cat:

Bot = Robot

  just a shortened version of the word

  People program their computers to answer certain questions to get the survey or poll to give them the disqual or some other form of compensation so all these checks, captchas and weird questions are created to prevent that.

Most people would have no idea how to "program" their computer to do this.  People were bragging in these threads a few months ago about how they got disqualified as quickly as possible from surveys and said they could make more money doing this than actually trying to do the surveys. I remember saying that would cause problems.  And guess what...I was right.  Things have been made harder.  And the people behind the survey have "bots" that are suppose to tell if you are a real person and have even banned people from surveys unfairly because they "thought" the person was cheating when in fact they were not.  So it kind of goes both ways.

I do not even think most people know what "bot" means.  I have no idea how you could even do that.  I know on twitter you get called a "bot" if you disagree with people. lol

Programs can be purchased easily for a few bucks on reddit so it doesn't matter if you can't create a program by yourself. You just need to know how to run the program.

You're right though that people have gotten unfairly banned because of a few people trying to game the system. Unfortunately, those cheaters are ruining things for everyone.

Hmmmm that is strange! I certainly hope I've never been suspected of being one, but the way some of them are done, who knows. I've never been turned away for it though.

Lately when I get a random bot check, I just have to click the box and a check-mark appears and there is no captcha to fill out.  Occasionally I do get the "click the traffic lights,etc".     A while back when the captchas kept reappearing over and over, my pc would freeze and buffer and I couldn't complete them.   :turkey:

In that case, the check box is the captcha. There are many kinds of captchas and now all of them require you to actually enter a code. Sometimes you have to check a box or click through a pattern of some sort. As more and more people find ways to work around captchas, more and more varieties of captchas pop up.
