Odd DQ
« on: January 18, 2020, 07:17:53 am »
Took a survey yesterday with one of those "If A boy had 6 marbles and lost 1, how many does he have" questions.  I answered "5" and got "sorry, you don't qualify for this survey" (it was Tap so I did get a cent or two).  I have to think I was DQ'd for a previous reason (age, sex or ethnicity) - but I thought it was odd to wait til I answered the math question to tell me!  ;)

Haha, maybe they were looking for people who got the answer wrong! At least they didn't let you go through the whole survey before giving you the DQ. Geez, I hate when that happens!

Maybe they were looking for a demographic that's bad at math. LoL!

The question and the DQ were probably not related. They just happened to follow each other in the sequence the programmers set up.

It happens. Sometimes I get DQ'd after a few screens and get the amount of the survey.

That was my thought.  I probably got  DQd for being an old lady!  ;)

I am retired from Market Research and used to screen respondents over the phone for paid studies.

You never tell a respondent why they do not qualify and or what the client is looking for. So if a respondent screened out, we always went down another question or two before telling them that they were over quota or did not meet the profile.

That's good to know - thanks

I'm not positive but I feel they do that so you won't know why you were dq'd then change it in another of their surveys

What's the reasoning behind that?  It looks like it would be more efficient and more ethical to let someone know as soon as he/she is screened out!

Thanks for explaining that!
