Punctuation and spelling are important!

Some people don’t spell so well, but that shouldn’t always have to affect the context. I still usually know what people mean when they make noticeable typos.

When you post online using a computer the incorrectly spelled words are underlined in RED. So there is no excuse for not fixing it.  Some people are lazy. It doesn't have anything to do with not spelling so well.  As an adult you should be able to spell simple words.

Red, squiggly lines actually indicate that a computer doesn’t recognize a word. The word might be real. The computer just wouldn’t know what the word means.

The point is if you see the red squiggly line then it should be a flag to you to LOOK at the word and see if you spelled it correct.  If not right click on it and it will give you the correct word. Just click on it. I think that is one of the reasons people get so annoyed with misspellings.

Lol, I never thought of that! Yes it is important. I am older and I text to my kid a lot, so sometimes I may write something (shorthand, and it has a different meaning than I intended.

I try to always check my Punctuation and Spelling before I submit anything. When was in High School many years ago, they called it Proof Reading. We would have to do a Draft and Proof Read it for any errors and put the Proper Symbols under each thing that was written wrong.

I have texted mom and she will ask what does that mean. But most of the ones I use know she knows.

I  think texting has made the world care less about spelling  .....    b4  U  r   2  mad about  it try to remember we now live in a  LOL  world full of strange new ways of meanings  BRB   and  short ways of getting the point across.                   even these  little   deals are sposed to make you  understand  the meaning of the message .  IMHO

If you are proof reading your own work why not just fix it instead of putting a line under it?  I would have.

While you are correct, there is a time and a place for this type of behavior.  On sites where you are limited on characters such as twitter people abbreviate more.  On sites like this, I do not think too much about it unless it gets too ridiculous and then I skip it.  Same with posts that are 2 pages long.

You are right when you say people are too use to using it and it is too common place.  I have seen applications where people use their cutesy (they think) shorthand.  That will get you tossed in to the do not hire pile quickly.

I have a cousin who texted me once with LMFBO.  I was shocked and called her on it because she claims to be a Christian and using the F word threw me for a loop.  She said oh no that means Fat.  I said no - that means F-ck! And she said well I meant it as Fat.  And she isn't fat.  She is just one of these people who says she is fat all the time so people will tell her she isn't.

I believe that communication can exist amidst poor grammar and punctuation.  I may not like it, but I won't criticize people with poor grammar and poor writing skills
