The trick is not being afraid !    If you are afraid they will sting you.  My friends that have hives Kate works around them with out them net outfits  she has bees all over her and they never bite her !

Answer to #2: Because I met someone who eventually had been a classmate of mine and saw her pet bees. That startled me!

I have never petted a Bee before but I do get some coming at me when I water the plants.

I would never even consider petting A bee.  I would be as far away as possible or standing as still as I could if A Bee  I was in the area.

Oh yes, after a bumble bee stung me. Could not get it off me so, I stroked it a little. It gave way.
