Hmmm. It was a "different" kind of Star Wars film. Not to get into spoilers, but the character of Luke doesn't really get done justice in my opinion. Even Mark Hamill himself has gone on record saying "This is not my Luke Skywalker".

It's still a fun time at the movies, I guess, but I was pretty disappointed in the story.

It's interesting to hear you say you were disappointed.  I'm sure you must be an avid fan...being a Jedi and all...however, given the timeline on making these movies it would be hard to keep the true character (Luke Skywalker) in the same light as when a very young Mark Hamill agreed to play the part.  I saw his interview on Graham Norton's Show (BBC One; Dec. 2017) on YouTube -- which is a must-see for any Star Wars fans -- and Mark was refreshingly candid about how it all began.  Flippant, really.  He didn't even see the need to keep the "goofy script" to himself until after the second movie.  That's when George Lucas and director, Irvin Kershner {now deceased}, approached him with a threat to not reveal what was in the script as he was the only person, other than themselves, who knew.

To me it's amazing how the Star Wars franchise evolved with time because when it came out those special effects were supposed to be 'the bomb.'  I guess so, but I managed to sleep through the actual 'war' and couldn't appreciate that part of it back then.

I saw that same interview and loved the refreshing honesty.

I liked it, but definitely understand why people are disappointed. :( Seeing it in RealD 3D was pretty neat, though.

I have seen and enjoyed the entire series. So I know I will be going to see this one.  The early action stuff is funny compared to what they do now.

I have to agree with you. I was disappointed in the story. I don’t like the Ben solo character.

I love Star Wars, but I can't say I really cared for the Last Jedi. I won't get into the details to avoid any spoilers. But I just don't find Rey and Kylo especially to be investable characters. The story also feels needlessly convoluted to me. Some people really enjoyed it though. But the whole thing seemed to be lacking heart to me.

I just saw The Force Awakens a couple of weeks ago and I watched Rogue one today.  I enjoyed the Force Awakens a lot more and I am looking forward the The Last Jedi.

I use to like Star Wars when I was little but I guess you could say that I our grew it. I still enjoy the first one a bit if it is on TV and I decide to watch it.
