We people opinions because we want to see what they or they will respond, every opinion matters, if its good or bad, we can't judge someone on how they respond to your question or comment.

But the whole point is most people do. They ask for opinions on say a public forum and then get mad when people do not agree with them. The same in real life. They ask for people's opinions but when somebody tells them something they don't want to hear they cry that you are bullying them.

I am curious as to what others thing as to why people ask for other people's opinion and then get mad when they don't like what they are told.  haha  That makes no sense to me.  If you want someone to agree with you then get a parrot.  If you really want people's opinion then be prepared for not every one to agree with you.

Also I am curious as to how many people tell the truth when someone asks for your opinion.  Or do you just say what ever will make that person feel good?

Haha, exactly. People are conflicted, defensive creatures. They don't want to have to face the person's opinion being contradictory to their own? Because it might challenge them in some way? I'm not articulating it well, but the term "cognitive dissonance" does come to mind on this topic.

Haha, exactly. People are conflicted, defensive creatures. They don't want to have to face the person's opinion being contradictory to their own? Because it might challenge them in some way? I'm not articulating it well, but the term "cognitive dissonance" does come to mind on this topic.

If you ASK for other people's opinions that is one thing. But if somebody just comes up and shoves their opinion on you that is different. Which is what I orig was saying. Why do people ASK for opinions of others (mostly online) and then scream and cry when they get opinions that are not what theirs are.

I guess I agree people in general are defensive and that is getting worse. Probably has a lot to do with idiots who will walk up to complete strangers and say things to them that are not of their business. Like a friend who was at Walmart with her baby and a stranger walks up to her and says "boy your baby sure is FAT".  Well no, the kid is not fat. Not at all. But even if it were the stranger has no right to say anything. In a case like that the person has a right to be defensive. I would be tempted to hit somebody. haha
