Hurricane Irma
« on: September 15, 2017, 08:51:33 am »
I live in central Florida and we made it just fine. We did leave our house because it sounded like it was going to get really bad, but it all was fine, even the giant oak that hangs over my house. I was so afraid we would come home and have a tree on our home.
How did everyone else affected by it make it through. I hope everyone is fine and has power back.

The further up the hurricane went the weaker it got..
I did however hear... that a whole body of water was sucked up
by hurricane irma..
Good that you evacuated
and glad to hear your house is still intact..

What you're referring to is a storm surge. The water returns eventually.

I went through Irma, no damage to my house or my friend's house, but a lot of tree debris, etc. We were without electricity for 3-4 days which was absolutely miserable in this Florida heat.

However, FPL has always done a great job. Considering we had a hurricane, 3-4 days is stellar.

They always manage to get things up and running in a reasonable amount of time. So now, I have been through two tropical storms and a hurricane.

I guess I'm a true Floridian now . . .

My aunt, uncle and 94-year-old grandmother evacuated their home in Sarasota, FL during Irma. They've been back home for a while now and, fortunately, there was no damage done in their neighborhood. Glad to hear that you and yours are back home safely as well.
