Hurricane Harvey
« on: August 31, 2017, 10:56:59 pm »
One of the worst disasters in our nation's history with so much flooding, uncontrolled and controlled, with so many losing so much in Texas and now affecting Louisiana, yet very little discussion about a real topic for discussion, what is wrong with people?  Yeah someone talked about looters but didn't indicate this disaster, but looting should not be tolerated anytime especially disasters, see this is discussing.  Maybe we need to put it in question form, ok which was worse Katrina or Harvey?  Can we get discussion now?  Don't want to hear about no one wants to think about negative things, it's reality and adults should be able to discuss things like this in a forum, if you don't want to fine but I'm sure many have thoughts about it and are concerned about those poor people in Texas and Louisiana and thank God they don't live there.  Makes you stop and think about how one's problems pale in comparison to those affected by such a large calamity.  Hey everyone has problems be glad you don't have theirs. :peace: 8)  I'm sure there will be plenty to discuss about this in the days to come let's see if anyone wants to do that or will we just ask more questions about food?

Thoughts and prayers are with all those in and affected by the hurricane.  I wonder why we are so lousy at the the responses with disasters.  At this point we have only 1/2 the equipment there as we did at the same time for Katrina (and our reaction was terrible on that one.).  At least the governor of Texas has told Mexico to come on in and help (and quit waiting for Trump to ok), they have helped at every disaster we have had and other places all over central and south America with well trained people and lots of equipment (they have portable kitchens that will make 7,000 meals a day).  Too bad so many of the Fema management positions are still unfilled, that would certainly have helped with preparations, organization and knowledge.  Thank God we do not (and hopefully will not) have the fatalities that Katrina had.

It's Congress that has to OK things, and President Trump donated $1 Million of HIS own money for those people because he cares about them :highfive:   I'm sure there are many unsung heroes but there will also be many horror stories as well that will come out for a long time.  Be careful who you donate to, watch for scams.
