parking space
« on: August 25, 2017, 07:39:13 am »
we are having a lot of rain here this morning.
I can see the parking lot from my apartment window.
a neighbor went out to do some errands.
While he has been gone, his parking space is flooding.
It happens every time there is heavy rain.
It's rainy season.
Last year, the city attempted to make the drainage better next door.
It has not resolved the flooding issue.

Wow, that's a big problem, city should do something about the drainage, in my backyard, when it rains it looks like a swimming pool, it's suppose to rain, but right now its just cloudy.

Wow rain in August? Where I come from, that's more rare than seeing an aardvark drive a convertible.

We live, and work, on somewhat of a hill (in both instances) so our cars generally do not have to endure deep puddles. I drive a fifty two year old jeep that sits up pretty high with lots of ground clearance so I am not as affected as most. Parking at work can be kind of funny. People pick spots and try to park in that same spot every day. I am guilty of the same but generally get my way because I am usually the first one in and I do not leave all day. One of the lawyers, who also gets in very early, parks his shiny little BMW as far away from the office as possible. The other day somebody parked in his preferred spot. It was comical as he came in spitting mad and dropping cuss words. He felt that it was a conspiracy and wanted to see who it was that challenged his domain.

If it's public parking, the city needs to seriously fix that.  If it belongs to the apartment then the manager needs to.  That could damage a car, especially if the heavy rains come when the car is in the spot when it happens.

Hopefully the flooding in the parking lot is short-lived.....meaning that the water goes down quickly as soon as they city sewer system/drainage system gets caught up.  Often during heavy rains, streets have a short-term flooding issue, but it drains away quickly.
