Anyone else suffer from acid reflux. If so, other than prescription medication, what home remedies have worked for you?

I don't have acid reflux, but Prilosc is what i hear that people take too. I believe that there are certain foods that you should stay away from too, so be sure to get with your doctor to make sure you stay away from foods that are bad for your situation.

I do get acid reflux often. I chew a couple of tums and it helps me to get over it. Don't want another Rx, I have enough of those for other ailments. If the tums ever stop helping me I will just try another over the counter medicine.

Yes.
I periodically get bouts of Acid Reflux...  I avoid too much chocolate & sweets - that seems to set mine off.
I use tums & that seems to help.  I also eat a piece of bread.

Prilosec works well if tums doesn't work.

No home remedies have ever worked for me. I had to get a prescription to treat it.

I have not suffered from acid reflux, but I went to Google and found some natural remedies.
Might be worth a read for you......

Basically the doctor prescribes Prilosc.  I also have tums but he recommended bread to kill the acidity in food like red sauce and chili, avoid acidic foods like oranges/orange juice and tomatoes.  Honestly I don't think there is a real 'cure' for it.  Each body is different and if you see the acid is worse with some foods than others it's best to try an avoid eating them.

I have had those problems.  I can tell you diet is a huge factor.  I didn't get meds for it.

I have suffered with stomach issues. I normally can get the over the counter stuff to work for me. Nexium has always worked the best.

Nexium really helps me. Zantac helps, but I feel Nexium helps in the long run.

I've suffered from some pretty severe heartburn in the past.  I've tried prilosec and some of the other over the counter meds.  They provided some relief, but none worked consistently well.  My doctor finally put me on a daily dose of Pantoprazole a few years ago which worked wonders!  It completely solved my symptoms like magic.  As long as I took it regularly, I completely forgot that I even had a problem.

Two months ago, my wife's health insurance (where my coverage also comes from) decided that they will no longer cover that medicine for more than 60 doses per calendar year, which I'd already exceeded.  I don't recall what the price difference was, but it was too much to pay.  So my doctor gave me something different - I forget what.  It is absolutely worthless - less effective than the OTC stuff - and I am right back to where I was before.
I suppose I don't always eat the right things, but darn it! Sometimes the fried food or chocolate is a necessity! >:(
