Eclipse
« on: August 07, 2017, 06:20:01 pm »
No one has mentioned the total solar eclipse of the sun on August 21st of this year. Surely many of you have your NASA approved glasses and are planning to view it .

Remember not to look at it without the glasses, though. You can damage your eyes. :glasses-nerdy:

It should be quite dramatic, don't you think?

Here's a link to Wikipedia about it:

I just bought some solar eclipse glasses tonight.
I am looking forward to it. I don't live in the Total Band path, but it will still be something that I don't want to miss.
thanks for the link to more information about it.
On Monday, August 21, 2017, a total solar eclipse will be visible in totality within a band across the entire contiguous United States; it shall only be visible in other countries as a partial eclipse

I live in the direct path.  I think it will be somewhat exciting.  This is something that is a once in a life time experience.  SurveyPro16 HOW in the world could you not have heard about this?  It is every where. haha

I remember seeing a news story during broadcast at the time of a previous solar eclipse where some farm animals (I think it may have been cows and chickens, but it was too long ago to remember for sure) were bedding down for the night when the sky got dark.  It was the middle of the day, but it seemed like bed time for them!  I wonder if they were confused at all when the night only lasted a few minutes!

I've got to get my glasses I haven't done that yet but I am very excited about seeing this the schools here are giving the kids permission to have the day off so they can too observe this event. I was reading about the damage that can do to your eyes and they say not to try to video it with a camera or a phone without the protection over the camera of the phone so your eyes won't get damaged they said on the news that here in Louisville it should take place about 2:30 p.m.

I live in middle Tennessee and just have to drive 26 years up the road to see a total eclipse.  I can hardly wait.  My cousin has already got our solar glassed.  Hope everyone has a good day and may God bless you and keep you safe. :)
