I usually tinker with it unless I know I cannot do the job. The one I most proud of was fixing the huge backup in the kitchen sink. It took me a couple of days but I eventually got to the root of the clog and replaced the piping. Worked so much better.

I don't have time for much DIY, but I have family members that can do almost anything.

I try DIY first.  Google and youtube are great resources on finding out How to do things.

We've fixed our refrigerator leak and vacuum cleaner using youtube videos.

We have always painted inside our house ourselves; but hired the outside painted and shingled.  2 story house is too big for our tools and abilities.

Electricity and plumbing also get professionals

I wish I were a DIYer, but I'm just not very handy around the house. I generally need to hire someone when I need help with anything.

We do it ourselves if we are able.  If not, we hire it out.

Same - it depends on the job....

I am a do it myself person if I have time.  I enjoy working with my hands and solving handy man problems-it is actually kind of therapeutic and a nice diversion from being chained to the computer for eighteen hours a day. I can generally do just about anything on a car or a house and figure that if I mess up I can always hire a professional to clean up my mess. I am also very conscious about the value of my time. I make more than most contractors so it makes more sense to hire out labor if I am busy making money. Fusion cash is an exception because I do mini-tasks between case/file review, and document downloads/uploads so as to maximize time and I think that I deserve a few extra dollars with all of the hours that I put in.

I love a good project so i'd say DIY  but i like doing projects with a buddy or person wanting to learn. I'll hire someone to teach me something so i like being hands on with the hire.

We DIY and very rarely hire someone.  If something is not finished in a timely manner, I tell the hubby I'm going to hire someone and he gets on it right away.  It saves money and you can find out to fix anything on you tube.

If I can do it myself then I am going to do it myself. save my self some money and hopefully know that I will have done it the right way.  but if its something that I don't know how to do I am willing to pay the money to have someone do it so that I know its done right.

I usually try to do everything myself, unless it's too time consuming, difficult or beyond my "expertise".
