Anyone ever watch David Suchet as Hercule Poirot?
« on: July 29, 2017, 02:36:26 am »
I have to be honest and say I avoided his Hercule Poirot after reading so many Poirot books and got bored.  There are only so many mystery/murders in an isolated area with only a handful of suspects, each with there own motive that I can take.  I did like the end when Poirot calls them into a room together and goes through how each suspect could have committed the crime saving the real suspect for last.  Then I read that Sir Kenneth Branagh is doing an adaptation of Murder on the Oriental Express. The article said the Braughn acquired the rights a year after Suchet’s Poirot ended its thirteen year run.  I thought to myself ‘if it ran for thirteen years it must be good.'  I watched one episode and was hooked.  In my free time, I just started binge watching.  Suchet does a fantastic job as Poirot and the fact that they made it a regular detective show along the lines of Sherlock Holms (rather than the boring everyone in one room plot) so, it made sense why it lasted over a decade.  Now I just kick myself for having avoided this gem when it was on tv.
