staying ahead
« on: July 02, 2017, 06:32:59 am »
when I walk down the hall every day, I see my neighbors.
sometimes, one will pass me as I walk slow.
inevitably, I get to the elevator and they are there.
we get there at the same time even though we go at different speeds.
I know a lady in the building [89 years old] who walks pretty fast.
she goes so fast her daughter can't keep up with her.
she is usually on the elevator and has gone up by the time I get there.
we start out walking together.
she wants to see her favorite program reruns.

This actually sounds like a little free-verse poetry.  It's very good/authentic; a nice slice of life.

This is kind of like a verbal portrait, and it's very interesting.

Yes I can sure understand this post - I had scoliosis growing up and several surgeries now I walk with a can and it is certainly not fast - I went to the YMCA in better days and saw people way older than myself who certainly moved way faster but I appreciate what I can do.

Since I have nowhere to go and all day to get there, speed is not an important consideration in my life.

Just have to love that way of thinking...   Thanks Old Buddy for making me smile!

I learned a  long time ago, that speed  won't get you there much faster then taking your time and being kind to those around you. I am one who leaves  early all the time to go somewhere , I would rather  be early then speeding because I did not leave  on time.  Stop and smell the roses and enjoy life.
