is easy. hackers are everywhere.
if it's so easy to commit fraud, I wonder how profitable it is.
every time a consumer detects it, they contact their bank ASAP and the case is taken.
The fraudulent transaction is deleted.
it seems like a waste of time to me.

It is very profitable for the hackers, because if it isn't , why bother.

Sadly it is very profitable for smart hackers. Financial institutions don't do a really good job on protecting consumers from hackers (considering all the revenue they generate). Even if some people are able to detect fraudulent activity, some people don't. Smart hackers will only take small amounts of money on multiple accounts to go undetected (limiting the risk of getting caught). For instance a skimmer will install a device that collects people's card info into a device. Might go undetected for awhile collecting small amounts of money from the accounts they have access too. For dumb hackers/thief they just want to gain a lump of cash and that increases the risk of getting caught by the financial system and law enforcement
