Do you color your own hair? If you do, what is the best DIY hair color?

Do you color your hair at home? If so what hair color do you think is best? I am blond and I'm going gray big time and need to get a good one that will not fry my hair. Any suggestions?

I do color my hair, I wouldnt be able to afford it if I had to go to a salon I used to buy Loreal, Feria, Clairol when they were on sale, but still $4.00 - 5.00 on sale!

but then tried Dollar Tree for $1.00 after seeing someone do a review online, and havent paid for those others since.

I find the ones from DT last just as long, nor do they stink as much. You dont get a conditioner in them, but that doesnt bother me as I have a lifelong stock pile from all the expensive ones

Downfall the ones at DT dont come in alot of colors, mainly Blonde, Red, Brown or Black

I've colored my own hair for years. I used to go to a salon when I was working, but since I gave up my income I had to find a more inexpensive way of coloring my hair. I've used a few different brands, but my favorite is Clairol Nice n Easy. I find it kind on my hair and long lasting. As a rule I don't color the whole of my hair, I simply color it in streaks, so it looks multicolored. I'm also starting to go grey, so I find colors which are similar to my natural hair color.

   It changes colors. I think it is because of the water, the shampoos and other chemicals I use. Sunlight also affect the color of my hair.

I color my own hair but only twice a year. I use Excellence and like that one. I used to buy the same one recognizing the girl on the box. Couldn't find it last time and picked one to red but it faded.

I use henna.  It's a natural plant dye.  Never used any other kind of store bought dye.

I color mine about every 6 weeks and use Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Color Creme.  Love the conditioner that comes with it and the coverage.  I am dark brown so the gray shows always show up at my part first.

I've tried nutrisse, l'oreal, and nice 'n easy. Nutrisse faded quickly out of my hair, l'oreal colors come out lighter, and nice 'n easy comes out darker. The last 2 I've always had nice results with. If you're looking for something you can make at home you can brew a real strong cup of chamomile tea, honey, olive oil, and spray it onto damp hair. Then either blow dry or go out in the sun. If you want to add more to it you can start adding small bits of hydrogen peroxide until you get a shade you want.
