Story Time II

 The Daughter woke up abruptly out of a dream that startled her. She often could recall her dreams so vivid, colorful, alive with plots. This one  was different. Her palms of her hands were sweaty as well as her  neck. Touching her pillow it was hot and wet. Her routine every morning was  to grab her phone and pushed the app that said, 'Record'.

Mom was in the kitchen cleaning the stove in a manner of fun or crazy. Making sure every dish was put away. As always, breakfast was already on the table prepared.

Brothers where watching daily cartoons still in the pj's eyes fixed on the screen and laughing. They communicated in a secret language that only they understood. They were ready, set, go as soon as mommy gave the word to eat.

Dad was still in bed half dressed on the phone paying bills. Half in shorts and half undressed. The phone would ring off the hook if he didn't get the calls. He would dial and chat to everyone.

...And their quiet on the floor was Shalamar;  eating her kibbles and mixed up food near the back door. There was no way to tell if she was a mop or a dog.  Her coat was grey and white;looking a bit brown. Due to nobody brushing her but once a week. She  was matted as they come; face too tale. There was this one  identification marker that sat on top of her head. It was hot pink scrunchy that lifted the hair from of her eyes so that she could see her food.
