An Enemy of Yours that Became Your Friend
« on: October 13, 2016, 12:29:30 pm »
Did you ever have trouble getting along with someone when you first met him or her and eventually become that person's friend? If so, I'd be glad to find out about it!

Yeah, not quite an enemy but close. Before I married my ex, we were double dating, him with his girlfriend and me with my soul mate. Couldn't stand the guy because his favorite saying was "I'm the greatest" (yes, THAT kind of ego), but somehow, I wound up marrying the jerk (was I crazy?), divorcing him, and marrying my soul mate 3 years later. Because I had a son by the jerk, we had to get along, and we wound up as just friends even though he went through 3 wives and I stuck with my soul mate (now 47 years). It was a complicated situation. My soul mate had married someone that used to go out drinking with my friends and I. They also had a son and they also divorced 2 months after I divorced. How funny.

My high school friend got us back together again. I will forever be grateful to her. His ex went to Seattle last we knew about 20 years ago. She never saw her 6 week old son after she left the home but did write one letter and ask about him and wanted a picture. I sent her a couple and let her know how he was doing.

No, if someone has been an enemy  i will not become a close friend . I may put up with him or her when they around with other people, but to be friends nope. once burned twice shy of them. I won't treat them like dirt but i  won't  be around them much either.

No not really. I do have trouble letting bygones be bygones! I can tolerate someone after they have wronged me, and I can even forgive them, but the trouble for me is that I can't forget! I have the memory of an elephant! I don't like having enemies as it can make life more difficult than I would like, so I do my best to tolerate the people I wouldn't chose to be friends with. It makes for an easier life.

No, I do not turn enemies into friends. I may "tolerate" the individual in public but that is it.

Yes, a girl who was a bully in middle school. I found out about her home life and started trying to reach out to her, smile at her, ask her ti sit with me in after school events.

We never became chums, but she stopped the bullying, and I think she would have protected me if I needed it.

I really don't have any "enemies" that I am aware of.  There are people that I really don't care to be around and try not to if I can help it.  There is an old saying "keep your friends close and enemies closer".
Have a wonderful day!
