It's no secret.  The holidays are sneaking up on us and we'll eventually be thinking about holiday food.

Where do you find great recipes?

I like to check out the recipes on food.com where I can filter to see the recipes with the highest ratings.

Do you have certain holiday food that is considered a "must" each year?

I'm having fantasies about fudge and penuche.  I might have to invest in a candy thermometer and get busy.

Maybe I'm just hungry.   

What are your thoughts about all this?

You can save your favorite recipes there. I also read the reviews of each recipe and "tweak" them lol

At our house, my chocolate fudge is a must for all holidays. We also always have to have corn casserole.

Honestly we usually just do traditional or family recipes. We might occasionally try something new, but can't go old with the classics!

When I first started dating my husband, he told me his grandmother (who passed  5 mos. before we started dating) used to make peanut butter fudge for the holidays, so I found a recipe online and surprised him with it. He told me it wasn't quite the same as hers, which I was expecting since it's not her recipe, but that it was delicious all the same.

Now, 8 years later (married 6) I make it every year for Thanksgiving and the rest of his family loves it and has told me they appreciate me continuing the tradition.

We use traditional family recipes for the Holidays - foods that my Grandparents and Parents have made for years, and ONLY for the these wonderful holidays.  Now, it's us "kids" that make all the awesome yummies.  You know how Grandparents and parents never really HAD a physical recipe.  It was always a little of this, a little of that, a pinch or so of the other.  LOL, I'm soooo glad I had the mind to ask my Grandmother to "explain" these recipes at the time so that they would live on through the ages and delight future generations.  I look forward every year to making them all over again and sharing the love with the rest of our family.

I know what you mean but for me I have some standard recipes I use every year and it's what everyone expects so I don't deviate.   As far as "fudge" is concerned, there are hundreds of  recipes on the web and I have one particular one that is my favorite so I stick to it.  Good luck with your recipe search!

I love to try out new recipes, although i do have a few the family really like. But hubby is used to me trying out different recipes and he will tell me  when he does not ilke one. The only trouble he has a sweet tooth  and will eat almost anything but pumpkin. But i put pumpkin in with some of my chocolate recipes and he never knows just like i add  grated zuccini to some. It adds a lot of moisture and helps keep them moist. Besides it is good for him.

We usually do a lot of the same thing every year. My sister makes several different fudges and brownies. My mom always makes homemade seafoam candy. We used to live in Wisconsin and would buy it every year at Christmas time. Now we all live in Florida and they don't have it down here. So the only way to get it is to make it.

I always look for people to post recipes on social media. I made some cream cheese cookies last year that were really good.

Every year is a traditional recipe. Yup Turkey for Thanksgiving and Ham or Prime Rib for Christmas. Except for some desserts someone found on Pinterest or other recipe sites and from close friends or co-workers.
