who is your favorite author

i like danielle steel  have since i was in my 20s she always has great story lines  i just wish i had more time to read but i do read every now and then these days

Emma Donoghue, Sylvia Plath, Laurie Halse Anderson.... Don't have much time for reading, either, and it really depresses me. Been so busy with the house, errands, my partner, the animals, and scraping together money. Life sure does kick you in the face sometimes!

I like to read a variety (when I have time) so I have quite a few authors that I enjoy but probably my favorites (I've read most or all of their books) are Dan Brown, James Patterson, and J.K. Rowling, Janet Evanovich, and Stephen King.

My all time favorite author is Stephen King.  He has such an imagination when it comes to writing books.

If I were asked when I was in Jr. High, they'd probably be my choice. I still love Christie's The Murder of Rodger Ackroyd; never was that surprised by a book before (and only my now-favorite author has accomplished that same feat).

Now, I'd have to say George RR Martin. Like I said, his A Song of Ice and Fire series (Game of Thrones) had also completely shocked me and my "understanding" of fiction. When one of the main characters was killed in the first book, I was dumbstruck. I kept waiting for some cheesy magic or some other means to suddenly save Ned, so was thoroughly pleased to find out that Martin wasn't going to take the route that most all other authors (esp. in the Fantasy genre) seem to employ.
