There is a local bank in my area that is always hiring tellers.  They have a rule that you have to "sell" to keep your job.  You have to open so many new accounts each month.  You are required to call people and ask them to open new accounts.  Ie...if you only have a checking account try to get them to open a savings account, buy CDs, etc.   If you do not meet the goal you are fired from your job.  To me this seems ridiculous.  I would actually close the account I had and move to another bank if I were constantly harassed to open new accounts.  Not only that but they are constantly having to train new employees.

What are your thoughts...
Would it upset you if every time you went in to do a transaction you were hounded to open a new account or called at home and ask to come in and open a new account?

yep that it would....my daughter worked at wells fargo...she was one of their top sellers...she loves to talk...lol..she knew which ones to ask about acct....they were getting stricter with it when she left...me personally if i need anything i will let you know...dont like to be harassed...good luck...

Not only would I hate to have a job that has that requirement, I hate the requirement when I am a customer. I often want to just run into a bank to deposit or cash a check and hate it when the teller slows me down by asking all sorts of questions about whether I want to open this or that type of new account. It is really irritating.

I think a bank that can't keep employees is not a place I want to do business with. 
Doesn't say much for their ethics or business sense.

I think you should know your job requirements before being hired.We all know what a bank tellers job is and its NOT to be a sales-person.

Maybe they should ask you to clean the rest-rooms too!!

If I wanted pressure sales, I'd hang out at a car dealership.  My banking and my accounts are my business and I never need to be pressured into getting services I don't want or need.   

Right now I have accounts at several different banks.  I'm about to close one of my checking accounts with one bank.  The reason is that I already have another working account and don't need two. 

I've actually been preparing for their response in case they try talking me into keeping it.

If I went to my bank and every time I walked in I was always being harrassed to open another account I would change banks asap.

I usually don't think about stuff like that, but in this case I want to suggest you talk to the bank manager and tell him to run a Survey on Fusioncash to see what people think about his ridiculous policy. At least we can make a few bucks for our opinions.
