It seems that if he had the emergency brake on (parking brake) it would have prevented this. Maybe there is something people can earn from this tragic death so that it prevent future unnecessary deaths.

I did not know of his work, but saw on the news, what a sad freakish way to die. Now they are saying his car was one that they recalled because of the shifter :(
