New Fangled Christmas lights...

We had to replace a string of lights this year because there seems to be a run on the old fashioned replacement bulbs and they don't seem to be making the old fashioned sets any longer.  So we ended up getting these new "energy saver" wires with a tiny LED light in the middle of a bulb shaped covering.

I wasn't crazy about it. The colors are far too dark. Not as bright & cheerful looking as before. Have any of you made the conversion? I'm guessing the old style lights are becoming obsolete.
