Years ago I had three friends that received diamond earrings for Christmas from their husbands, I received a blender.  I will never forget that.  Eventually he did get me diamond earrings but then took them back because he said I didn't wear them enough.

It depends on the person. Some people like receiving things they actually need and others like getting wants for gifts. I tend to want more things I'll actually use on a regular basis like clothing or electronics than jewelry I can only wear occasionally

I'm one of those people.  I don't mind if he gifts me with things I/we need around the house.  I'm happy to get anything from my husband.  We've been married 41 years and I can't think of a time I was disappointed.

I agree.  The gift should be more personal, unless I asked for a vacuum.

I don't even look for a gift on Christmas from my wife, because if I really want something I would have already bought it. My kids usually buy me FOOD, like gourmet treats or nuts and I love them.

Yes, I think it is wrong to buy a woman gadgets to perform housework better or easier. Instead the present should be something for them that they want for themselves, not for the house.

I like practical things, things that are useful
I never was one for jewelry.
my jewelry box just sits on my dresser.
I will wear some necklace once in a while, a great while.
