I have a Bissel canister.  My husband and I got a bargain on it and a microwave off wal-mart.com this last April.  It's not something I would generally have chosen.  He did the shopping on this.  For our dinky apartment with area rugs and 2 carpeted bedrooms it does all right.  Myself and 2 daughters shed a ton so we have to clean out the bottom bristles after each use. We would probably have to do that with any other vacuum to though.

I like Dyson, but also Hoover works pretty well and is typically a lot cheaper.

I have an old Bissel. It works okay. We now have hard wood floors though so we only need to use a dirt devil stick vac. I hear the shark vac is really good.

I recently purchased a Dyson vacuum cleaner for about $300. I probably should tell you that it cleans better than any other vacuum I have owned, but I don't think it does. What I do love about it though, it how easy it is to empty the dust into the garbage. You just press a button to release the container from the Dyson and then press a button to release the contents into the garbage. On my old vacuum who practically had to dismantle the it and I always got dust everywhere, which is not good for my son who has asthma. So would I purchase a Dyson again, yes I would!

I got a Eureka Optima, cute little green machine that cost me nothing,. Found on trash run,  cleaned up and works better or as good as the almost $400 lightweight Dyson that my daughter in law has. Don't get me wrong I really dig her vacuum but I trolled i have this one now.  I don't care for the handle though,  it's adjustable but slips out of place to easily.

We have a Dyson, but I don't think it's worth the money.
