Is it better to go to a two year college or a four year?

They say 4 year colleges are always good. However, they will also tell you that it is very expensive. They suggest that if you can't afford a 4 year or are trying not to have large loan amounts when you graduate, start of at a 2 year, then transfer to a 4 year. Check out the colleges first though and make sure that they will accept your transfer credits. Most colleges will.

It depends on what you want to get out of a college experience and what type of degree you need.  If you are going into a field that only requires a 2 year degree then why waste time going to a 4 year?  There are advantages and disadvantages to each.  Each type of college offers different experiences.  It's up to the individual to decide what is best for them.

All good advice. Just be sure the college that you choose has a good program in what you want. Be sure it is accredited. Starting at a two year and transfering can be a very good financial decision. Many of the Community Colleges are excellent. Especially if you stay within your state. I believe if you go to a local 2 yr community college(public) and you do well, you are pretty much guarenteed to get into the upper division state school(the last two years.

If you don't have the slightest idea what you want to do and you still have tons of general education courses to take, get into a community college.  You'll save yourself a huge amount of money and get some slight idea of where you want to head.  Of course, before doing this, be sure to check with the university you're looking into and make sure they accept credits from the community college you'd be attending.

I've done both!! Each was a great experience and exactly what I needed at the time. I worked for ten years with my 2 year degree and went back for a 4 year degree. I say take advantage of any opportunity to gain education. It is the one thing no one can take from you. If you are considering school, go for it!

it all depends on what you want to do for a living.

Though I strongly recommend a four year program.
