My dog is limping
« on: April 28, 2015, 10:04:41 am »
My biggest dog (80 pounds) started limping last night.  He did put his weight on it last night, but can't today.  I have a vet appointment today at 4 pm.  I pray it's not broken.

My last dog was always hurting his back legs. The vet would prescribe something for him and he would be fine in a few days.  I hope your dog's injury is nor severe and he will be up and running soon.

My biggest dog (80 pounds) started limping last night.  He did put his weight on it last night, but can't today.  I have a vet appointment today at 4 pm.  I pray it's not broken.

My cat has been doing this for over a month now.  I took her to the Vet when I saw it wasn't getting any better and spent all I had at the time.  The Vet examined her and said that she didn't think anything was broken because she didn't hear any "clicking" or "creaking" sounds, but told me that she may have torn something or that her hip might be out of socket.  She suggested a couple of x-rays, but alas, I don't have $200 to spend on x-rays and my cat is still crippled.  She told me, too, that should it be something torn or a hip out of socket that that could only be fixed "surgically."  :(  I've been sick over it because I just can't afford any of that.

Please let us know what the Vet said about your dog.  Sending love.

Hope that it's not too serious.  I've had similar issues with one of my dogs.  Luckily it didn't require surgery or anything.  She occasionally limps on it, but it doesn't seem to slow her down.

Countrygirl12, I can't believe what you just posted.  That is exactly what is wrong with my dog!  The vet showed me the xray, arthritis in his hip!

Same with mine.  We're giving him glucosamine daily...seems to be helping.

Thanks everyone, he got a shot last night and he is still limping, but not as much as before.  I hate when a fur baby gets sick!

They have glucosemene (spelled wrong) at Walmart.  I have been giving that to my dog. I have to hide in in cheese and sometimes the goof eats the cheese off it and leaves the big chewable pill. lol.   Not sure it is helping.  But it can't hurt.   My older dog has it really bad.  The youngest is the one that has been limping for about 6 months.  At least you know it is not something bad.  :)
