The most annoying thing...
« on: March 13, 2015, 08:10:00 am »
What is the most annoying thing that has ever happened to you? Today for instance, I normally go to work but took the day off to attend my sons school meeting. I come home to a small pamphlet wedged in between my door and the storm door. How ironic and amusing! It's from the Jehovah Witnesses. Their names are probably Brock and Dillard and the pamphlet is asking me if I will attend. Attend what? A remembrance ceremony of Jesus.

OK, I'm very understanding and sensitive to others religions but come on now! I belong to my own church and pray to Jesus the way I want to not the way they want me to! I just find it so annoying to know that people stepped on my property when I wasn't home and left this for me to read when I am not joining their watch tower church. I appreciate the offer but NO THANK YOU!!

I quite agree, that would be very annoying. I put Jehovah's Witnesses in the same category as Sales people! They never accept the word "no", they always have something more to say and you have to resort to being somewhat rude to have any hope of them leaving your property.

A pamphlet stuck in the door doesn't really annoy me. Toss it and forget it.

Back when my sister lived within walking distance of me, and I used to go over to babysit my niece when she got out of school, I once had a couple of Jehovah's Witnesses follow me on the sidewalk. I had my ear buds in and my music on, but I was still able to hear them try to capture my attention. I just pretended the music was too loud and couldn't hear, and eventually they left me alone.

Also, my apartment complex is strictly a no-soliciting zone, and JW's are doing just that when they go door-to-door to try and recruit you to their church. Which is why I just don't answer the door, at all, if they knock on mine. I'll turn down the volume on the TV, then sneak quietly to the door and just stare at them through the peephole until they leave.

I do hate to be rude but if I'm polite to them they will go on and on and then keep coming back.

I had JW visitors just this week.  I smiled and accepted the pamphlet, said thank you and closed the door.
They went on their way and I tossed the pamphlet.

Thankfully we don't have any JW's that go door to door here, but we do get a ton of solicitors. Selling books, magazines, steaks, etc. I don't mind kids selling things for school or whatnot, but I absolutely hate adults knocking on my door trying to get me to buy their crap.

Attending someones funeral or mass procession is voluntary and you go to show your respects to the family members of the deceased. I usually ball my eyes out because the mass is usually touching and knowing that I cannot see them physically upsets me but I know they will always be in mind and spirit and in my heart.

I can understand that. Where me and my mom used to live they would come around often and at early hours. They just don't want to take no for an answer.

I agree with you.  As I've stated before, people already know about other churches and if they're interested, they will come.  There's no need for these people to constantly barrage you with their BS.  I've had actual signs in BIG LETTERS on my front windows that say, "Absolutely NO SOLICITING!  This means YOU!"  Either they're stupid, illiterate, or both because they will still bang on your doorbell.  I fully expect that one day we'll be reading in the news about one of these people getting badly injured because they ran in to a homeowner on a really bad day, LOL.
