setting the stage
« on: February 17, 2015, 08:36:56 am »
I saw a video that showed what is involved in setting up the stage for Wheel of Fortune.  The show travels from city to city so they have to take their set with them. The special background and floor matting is huge and I saw it being rolled out. Wow.

I always thought they operated out of a stationary studio. I never knew they moved around. Thats cool. Wonder when they'll stop through my city.  ;D

That's what I thought as well. That's pretty cool though. Gives an opportunity for more people to see the show since they don't have to travel if it's in their city.

I don't watch the show and had no idea it traveled.  I do know, first hand, what's involved in dressing a set.  It's a lot more involved than people think.

I bet that was interesting. A lot of work goes into the game shows and you just don't really think about all the stuff that has to be done for it to be a success.

I never put much thought on a game show and mobility to different places. I often think they're always in the same place, but consistency is important and now thinking about it, I'm sure it's a lot of work and I applaud them for fooling me.

I believe most of their shows are in the same studio in California, but they do move to different locations on occasion.  For the past week or so, they have been in Hawaii.  Sometimes they visit college campuses.

It does take alot of work setting up a stage.  I have watch the crew set/break down a stage for a singer, and I know it's more work for a TV show.

That is cool. I wonder if one of the crew members backstage get to stop the wheels on bankrupts when someone is winning more money. I have seen someone landed on "lose a turn" or "bankrupt" the entire time they were on the game show. But then again it could be all a game of luck!

Pretty cool, I never realized they moved around either.  It's been a while since I've watched it, so guess I never paid close attention.

I love watching that show!  I knew they traveled quite a bit but never gave any thought to them moving the stage setups with them.  Bet it was interesting to watch that video!
