Prosecutors
« on: January 08, 2015, 07:20:23 am »
I've never had problems with the law; however, this past month I had a friend who was falsely accused of committing a crime.

After having a conversation with the prosecuting attorney, he realized that my friend had been falsely accused.  His greatest concern, at that time, was that he might lose his case.  He told me that he hadn't lost a case in 20 years.

What about truth and justice?  Isn't that important?

The prosecuting attorney didn't want the truth to come out because he wanted to maintain his winning streak.

Instead of offering my friend an apology and setting him free...

My friend ended up pleading guilty to a lesser charge so he could be released within a reasonable time frame.

What's wrong with this picture?

Do you know a prosecutor who has integrity?

Yeah, I'd really love to cross paths with one of those.

Have a great day!

I personally would not believe him if he said he had not lost a case in 20 years.  If that was the truth he would be pretty famous.

Have to agree with countrygirl.  My brother is a attorney, and has been for many years.  Of course I think he is the best, but I do know he has lost his share of cases.  Any lawyer who says they never lost a case has either never tried one, or lies.

I learnt a long time ago and have to admit was pretty shocked that law is not about who is right or wrong nor what can be proved or is hearsay. It's more about what can be negotiated and is acceptable to both parties. Hiring a Lawyer is like employing a professional negotiator to work and argue on your behalf. Sure the Lawyer might have extra tools up his sleeve such as evidence, but it's still a matter of legal negotiations. Truly guilty, or not, has very little to do with it! Sadly!

I believe the person accused should have gotten a better lawyer. I do not know of a prosector that would try someone that he knew he was innocent. But  of course I come from a small town but still, that is not right. I would get another lawyer and fight.

How horrible! The prosecutor should have done the right thing.
