Dealing with hateful family members
« on: February 14, 2015, 05:42:38 am »
How do you deal with a mother who is never satified or happy about anything, she is 81 and it is not because of her age, she has always been this way. I am 59 and I just am so tired of being put down all the time no matter what I do. She criticizes everything in my life from my children to the way my hair looks. I can't stop looking out for her, she is my mother.

First of all, this belongs in the off-topic forum, not payments.

Second, have you told your mother how you feel? Have you told her that you're sick of being put down and criticized? If so, what was her response?

I know this was posted in the wrong forum but I just had to look at it.  I feel for you that you have to deal with so much criticism but it is usually a sign that the person is either really unhappy and just trying to share that gooey feeling, or she may think she is helping (which I doubt since it seems to have been a life long bad habit) or she just thinks that being right allows her to tell you all about it.  Bummer!  All you can really do is let it roll off your back and remember that one day she won't be there and you will......actually.....miss it as it can be a form of love too. Hope you find a way to deal with it on a daily basis.  Feeling criticized can trulty wear you out and drain you of all your motivation to succeed.

You are beautiful and you are special.
