If you drink coffee or tea...try and drink it earlier in the day...try reading before you lay down...sometimes that makes you tired...or try tylenol pms....they are probably better then sleeping pills. Good Luck

YES !!! Before you go to the Dr.s, try this.. I had trouble going to sleep all my life, until I did this.. Listen to books on tape when you try to sleep. I download free old time radio shows, on my ipod, and turn off the lights, lay down and listen to the shows.. I usually fall asleep listening to Groucho Marx's old show, 'You bet your life".They have thousands of free shows, so you don't have to buy any. I wake up to a  show, and lay there and listen to it until I want to get up.I am 53 years old, and this is the only thing that works for me. When I was young, I would lay there all night, and then sleep in class from exhaustion.!!

Hehe, engineering student and full time worker.
Know all about it.
This past semester, used to wake up on Monday and goto bed Thursday.

Now that the semester is over, I find myself lying awake, thinking I need to do something.

I was watch a news show earlier today and i saw an item on the news called the nightwave. they say that it works by teaching you how to breath to go to sleep. the product looks cool and is worth a try. they say it is not for people with serious insomnia, but it is here if you want to give it a try.

Get some exercise during the day.  Not too close to bed time though!

You can try tylenol PM's first, they will get you tired enough in order to go to bed, but you will still be able to awake if your baby needs you.  Good Luck!

I have a really really tough time sleeping too.  Sometimes I will get as little as 2 hours in three days, and then FINALLY I can get to sleep from sheer exhaustion  :(

I'm surprised someone has yet to say this. Why not give meditation a try? It's very soothing and relaxing.

I can't sleep neither. But sometimes the days that I go to sleep (early) are those days I exercise a lot during daytime. Best thing to do is to get yourself tired then you eventually want to go to bed at night.

I have sleep insomnia horribly. I can not take any medication for it because it fails to work. My body just does not respond to it. I will sit up for hours on end because of it. It sucks!  >:(
