Do you think it is ok for kids under 16 to have a birthday at a hotel. My vote is no.

No, not really unless it's one that just provides party facilities like a big banquet room but none where kids stay overnight.
Have a wonderful day!

I disagree.  For a few years after my ex-husband and I divorced I was unable to do anything for my children's birthdays.  Once I began working and was able to start saving I honored the birthdays I'd missed with activities.  My daughter choose one year to go to a hotel.  We live in the midwest so getting to a pool really helped with the winter blues.  I allowed her to bring 2 friends.  We had a standard room.  My daughter and I in one bed and the 2 guests in the other bed.  The girls swam and played all evening... we ordered pizza and had it delivered to the room, I brought a message cookie and snacks...the hotel offered a continental breakfast.  I'm a mother of 3 so traveling with 3 kids wasn't new to me.  In fact since it was my daughter with her friends and no siblings there was no arguing and I was able to kick back and read while they made there laps in the lazy river.  My daughter was about 10 or 11 than so it was manageable and the girls were very well behaved.

I would said no to birthdays at hotel when they are 16, but I agree with sak4kat if they are only two friends and 10 or 11, but no to teanagers.

Honestly it depends. When I was younger 11, 12, 13 i cant remember, my parents gave me a hotel party.. BUT they were supervising all the time, and we had one of those rooms where it was separated by a door, so my younger brother and my parents stayed on one side, we stayed in the other, and It was just me and 3 of my closest girl friends. Now If your talking about dropping kids off at a hotel and saying "have fun" lol probably not the best idea. But if parents are staying to supervise and if they know the friends that are being invited I dont see why not. For me when you have the supervision and everything its just a sleepover in a different place.

I don't see a problem with it as long as it is chaperoned by adults, preferably a parent or parents.

As I mentioned in the other thread on this topic, I have actually been to several parties at hotels where there were children present. As the OP never mentions whether these are chaperoned, I'm assuming that they are esp. considering that you have to be at least 18 to rent rooms (and some hotels have a higher age-limit). Since there are adults present who will be responsible for anything that happens, I don't see the problem with it. If, however, you mean that the parents are renting rooms for the children, and then leaving the hotel and letting the kids do whatever they want, then obviously this is stupid parenting and the parent is just setting themselves up for having to deal with whatever trouble the kids may get into.
