Java notice on Radio Loyalty

I keep getting a notice to update my Java plugin on the Radio Loyalty window.

It concerns me because I just installed the latest Java update (Version 7 Update 67) on my machine and I'm not sure this Java plugin notice is legit or not.  It says it Version 7.23 update 25.

The Java update was for my machine, but I'm not sure whether the Java plugin is browser specific.  (I use Firefox for Radio Loyalty.)

Is this happening to anyone else?  Any clue as to whether it's legit or not?

I also suspect that every time the notice comes up, the RL counter is reset.  And it comes up a lot  -- very annoying -- have put RL aside until I  hear from  other RL users.

I figured out how to contact RL and have sent them an inquiry about this Java pop-up.

If you're using Firefox, you can check all of your plug-ins for any updates.  Open up your "Add Ons."  On the left hand side, click on "Plugins," at the top of that page you'll see the words "Check to see if your plugins are up to date."  Click that and it will open a new page that checks all of your plugins for the latest version.  If there are any that need updating, do so.  I would leave the "BETAS" alone, unless you like using them.

I can tell you that Firefox and Oracle have been duking it out lately over why so many people using both products are having a hard time with their Java.  As a matter of fact, I don't even think that Mozilla recommends using Java on Firefox due to it's vulnerabilities on Firefox.

I'm using Windows 8.1 64-bit and there are times when Firefox hangs.  I got tired of it and finally decided to try another browser I found that is a TRUE 64-bit browser.  It's called "Pale Moon" and man, am I loving it!  No hangs, it's fast, and I haven't had a single problem with it yet!  What's awesome is that Pale Moon gives you the look and feel of Firefox (nothing new to learn, really).  If you're familiar with Firefox, you'll be automatically familiar with Pale Moon.  While Pale Moon may not be compatible with a few extensions, like Firefox, it will tell you that.  I'm happy to say that all extensions I use are compatible with Pale Moon except the "Add To Search Bar" extension and that's no big deal to me.  I was able to copy my existing Firefox profile into Pale Moon by using their "Migration Tool."  It took all of a minute and I have all of my bookmarks, preferences, extensions, etc. right there in Pale Moon.  If you're running a 64-bit system, you may want to read about Pale Moon here:

I checked my plugins for Firefox and the 2 Java plugins (Java Deployment toolkit 7.0.670.1 and Java(TM) Platform SE 7 U67) are up to date.  Adobe Acrobat,  Shockwave Flash and Silverlight plug-in are also up to date.

The only plugin that is not up to date is Shockwave for Director (Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in, version 11.6 -- should be 11.6.0.626)  I don't use Netscape so I'm not sure this would be generating any problems.

There is a note at the top of the page saying the Firefox has prevented the unsafe plugin "Java Deployment Toolkit" from running on www.mozilla.org.  A statement, perhaps, that supports your comment that Firefox and Oracle are at odds with one another.

After I checked the update status and returned to the page that listed the available add-ons, I noticed a menu for each add-on that gave me to option to "Ask to Activate", "Always activate" or "Never activate"  The only plug-in set at "always activate" was Shockwave Flash".

Since the Java(TM) Platform SE 7 U67 10.67.2.1 is set at "Ask to Activate" does that mean it is not being used (ie not activated)?  Is something else within Firefox doing the job that Java is supposed to be doing?  Should I have Java on "Always Activate".  (And if I do put it on "Always Activate", will it cause problems within Firefox?)

Is this why I keep getting the pop-up (on Radio Loyalty) to update my Java? -- because the Java I do have is not activated in Firefox?

I also use Chrome and tried to find a similar area about plugins.  Found one about extensions. but nothing for plugins.

Thank you for the info about Pale Moon. Do you access Radio Loyalty with that browser?

I got that notice for several days, my plug in where correct and now I can not get in to radio. waiting on them to unban me from it. It has been a week now.

I got that notice yesterday and closed it and closed RL, I am using Chrome.. and I know my Java plugin is up to date..I haven't tried RL today..hope this isn't something that is going to hurt my computer.

I've checked my version of Firefox (v. 31) and I don't even have "Shockwave for Director" installed.  If it's in your list of plugins, I suppose you could always try disabling it to see if it makes a difference on Radio Loyalty.  As far as the "Java Platform" goes, yes, Mozilla has disabled this plugin by default.  I believe it causes Firefox to crash a lot.  Again, this plugin is not in my list on the version of Firefox I use.  I suppose if you choose "Always Activate" you'll soon find out whether or not you'll have problems.  I do believe that it's the reason why RL seems to think you have no Java installed.  Unfortunately, no, there is nothing else that takes the place of Java for any browser.  Problem is, is that Java is a very old technology and hasn't been updated in a very long time.  This is probably why it leaves all the newer browsers wide open to vulnerabilities like crashing.

I can't help you with Chrome.  It's not a browser I was crazy about and I don't use it.  Pale Moon (or Firefox):  I have NOT accessed RL in a while on either of these browsers.  I can make a penny elsewhere much quicker.

I have been getting the same message about Java and when I go to java site and check for do I have the right java it says yes it updated. Then I get these messages that the radio loyalty site is a phishing scam and it shows a ip number for the site. Not sure what is going on.

Update:  I put Java on "Always activate" in the plug-in section of Firefox.  So far I have not had any problem with Firefox crashing or doing anything unexpected.  Also on the positive side, the notice to update Java on the Radio Loyalty site no longer appears and RL works reasonably well.

Sorry to say but Radio Loyalty is not working right with any browsers chrome, ie, firefox, opera, safari. I am well aware of add ons and how to activate them in browsers. I think it is that if you are only using RL at the time and have that window open as always being active. Not sure of that.

It worked fine for me yesterday, and today, I was able to access RL without too many problems - the captcha's came up and I could enter them until about 10 pm EST.  That's when I noticed that even tho I had put in captcha's from 1pm through 10pm, nothing had credited from RL.    Hopefully, they will catch up with the credits eventually.

Update:  the missing credits came through -- both for RL and the videos that I had viewed.

I do use Firefox to run RL and have the window open all the time  (want the music).  I rarely run anything else on Firefox at the same time, but I do use IE for emails and Chrome for games.
