I read the statistics yesterday that 30,000 people die annually of the flu every year, so if we're not overly concerned with the flu, why worry about ebola - especially when the only 2 people who had it in the USA are apparently recovering.
I don't quite understand why the government in the countries where it is truly an issue, don't put more money into researching for a cure, or prevention. How is it here in America that they found a potential cure, when it really is a nonissue here, except for it being a pandemic in the future.
lol. Really? Where are these third world countries suppose to get the money to put into research? The US does not have any more money to give.
Those "third world" countries have plenty of money to allocate for research, & to implement safety. They are fully functioning countries with governments that have different priorities then we have here in America, but they do have money to take care of their own people if they choose to do it, they don't choose that course.
The US has tons of money to give, they just keep borrowing it limitless from China (that's sarcasm if you don't get it).
If these other countries have all this money then why are they third world countries? Why are people in Africa starving? I know parts of Africa like South Africa is not as bad as the places shown on TV when they are asking people for money. I worked for a rich guy from South Africa for a short period of time.
And if the US has tons of money then why are we bazillions in debt?
One thing I do agree with as far as these other countries go - if you refuse to work you don't eat.
I don't think any other country has the welfare programs like we do here. Guess that is why they all want to come here. We will give them a check and tons of money and free stuff for doing nothing. lol Their own country you have to work if you want something.
It's easy to just google the answer for yourself.
Don't assume all countries affected are 3rd world countries because they are in Africa.
Guinea Africa used to belong to France. Used to be called French Guinea until fairly recently. They are a rich country:
Right off Wikipedia:
"Economy
Guinea has abundant natural resources including 25 percent or more of the world's known bauxite reserves. Guinea also has diamonds, gold, and other metals. The country has great potential for hydroelectric power. Bauxite and alumina are currently the only major exports. Other industries include processing plants for beer, juices, soft drinks and tobacco. Agriculture employs 80 percent of the nation's labor force. Under French rule, and at the beginning of independence, Guinea was a major exporter of bananas, pineapples, coffee, peanuts, and palm oil."
The problem is they don't put money in research, or education. Especially for femaies. Not that they can't, because it's not all that important to their culture.
"Education[edit]
Schoolgirls in Conakry, Guinea
The literacy rate of Guinea is one of the lowest in the world: in 2003 it was estimated that only 29.5% of adults were literate (42.6% of males and 18.1% of females).[63] Primary education is compulsory for 8 years, but most children do not attend for so long, and many do not go to school at all. In 1999, primary school attendance was 40 percent.Children, particularly girls, are kept out of school in order to assist their parents with domestic work or agriculture.[64]"
Like I said, the government has different priorities than what we think is important in America. It has nothing to do with them being a "3rd world country" which they aren't. About as third world as France.
