Epitaph for Clara (West Highland Terrier):          A DOG'S PLEA
Treat me kindly my Beloved Friend, for no Heart in all this world is more grateful than this heart of mine.Take me inside when it is cold and wet.  Take me inside when temperatures exceed my tolerance.  I am a domesticated animal, no longer accustomed to the elements.  I ask for no further privilege than to sit beside your feet at the hearth on a cold day.  Feed me healthy food and always provide me with fresh, clean water, that I my stay happy, and healthy; always ready to play and romp at your side.     I will always be ready to do your bidding; to protect you with my own life should your own be in danger.  And, my friend, when I am old and no longer enjoy good health, hearing or sight, do not make heroic efforts to sustain my life.  I am not having any fun.  Please see that my life is taken gently.  I shall know, with the last breath I take, gazing into your eyes for the last time, that my life was ALWAYS safest in your hands
