Maya Angelou, poet and activist, passed yesterday at the age of 86

I was saddened to hear yesterday on the news that Maya Angelou, poet and activist, passed yesterday at the age of 86.  She was a lady who inspired many people, and her presence will be missed.

Amen to that. I didn't know much about her, but I came across a quote from her once that stuck with me, something along the lines of: "I've learned people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people won't forget how you made them feel." Thought that was very intelligent. RIP.

I too was saddend to hear of her death, but she was 86 years old and had a great life, I think.  She will always be remember for her speeches and poet.  To God be the glory.

I was also saddened to hear of her passing.  She gave us much to learn and consider in her books.  My favorite quote comes from her....."I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." It may have been original spoken by someone else but it was her whom I heard it from.  Great words to live by and it has helped me keep my temper on more than one occasion.

She was a great lady.  I wish I could have met her.  I went to school with someone who had met her and had actually sung with her.  She said Ms. Angelou was a very real and compassionate person.

I am going to miss her. A very passionate lady. Her books and poems and are so intriguing. I thought of her as a visionary and a person who could lead young minds to anywhere they wanted to go and fulfill their dreams.

I live in the town where she had once stopped to open a reading center in my town.  86 is too young to die, should be still with us.

One of my favorite activist, actress and poet is gone but will never be forgotten.  Maya Angelou, is deeply missed.  May her soul rest in peace.
