I think some gravel and grass together would look nice. All gravel? Hmm, I'm not sure if I would personally use that, but I guess some yards could pull it off. All depends on how you arrange it I suppose.

I prefer grass but it can be tedious to keep up. I like the idea of using gravel and easy to maintain indigenous plants. That seems like a nice compromise for some people that still lets them landscape their outdoors without too much trouble.

I would keep the grass.  Gravel you have to keep adding to it  or you end up with mud.  I have seen laminated gravel for patio's.  I would like that.

Why not have both? I prefer grass but then again, I'm not the one mowing the lawn so I can see why people would want gravel. We have a combination of both. Just enough grass so that the kids can play outside. And then we have gravel walkways that lead to the pool, as well as from entertainment area and the  grassy area.

i love grass and my husband doesn't he wants to make it all gravel and i want some gravel what would you choose

Living in Arizona, I would choose desert plants - made to survive the hot temperatures of the desert with minimal amounts of water.  There's so much grass here, it's ridiculous.  If that grass is in your front yard and you're not caring for it properly (YEAR 'ROUND), you'll get a poison pen letter from your HOA.

When visiting Phoenix, we saw some really beautiful yards that used different colors of rocks to make landscape designs.  I personally would not want an all-gravel or rock yard but alternating some with green spaces of grass and/or plantings certainlly adds dimension and variety.

I like grass. I don't think I'd want a yard full of gravel.
