Friend is Arrested

I think there is more to the story on her side.  If one of the babies died-why?  What difficulties did she encounter when trying to deliver the babies?  Was she in a safe environment while delivering the babies?  Did the parents call the Police and if so why?  Living outside the box when dealing with peoples lives is a no-no.

You say she ran a wellness center? Were the parents unable to deliver in a hospital? If so why didn't they so do and was the Mother getting prenatal care doing the pregnancy? 
There are so many questions to be answered before I could say yes or no.

I would think she would need medical insurance.Drs need it and shes NOT a Dr.I am wondering if she should be even practicing that?

I dont know enuff about it but i am curious to hear how it plays out.

Plus i wonder where her conscience is if she knows shes qualified to do just that.

Wouldn't your friend be certified to deliver babies if she works for the clinic? But regardless, whenever a mother loses her child, she feels lost and as in any case of a death, people look to blame someone. My thoughts and prayers go out to your friend and I hope the justice system clears her any charges that she had no control ever.

The authorities must have thought she was reckless in some regard when she delivered the twins. There's nothing wrong living outside the box but you can't do things that jeopardize the life of others.

I don't know any of the details,but it sounds strange.I didn't really think there was laws involved in child delivery.I guess only Doctors are allowed that now?

I am thinking she probably didn't mean for this to happen. But on the other hand, if she wasn't licensed to deliver babies she knew the risk she was taking. I hope all turns out well for everyone.

Your friend took a risk delivering babies without a medical license.  I am sorry that she was arrested and that one of the babies passed.  This is a tragic situation for everyone involved.

She took the decision to operate outside of the law, obviously. She knew the risks, or should have and is now paying the piper. Not knowing her, but knowing of 'healers' in general, they should go to medical school and get their credentials THEN they can practice medicine in the way they see fit. I have no sympathy for her at all.

If she is a "licensed" mid-wife I don't see how she should be in trouble.  I would think the person who was going to her for delivery knew in advance that she was just a mid-wife and not a real medical doctor.  If, on the other hand, she is not "licensed" and the person giving birth didn't know or realize that she was limited in her "birthing skills" well then she could be charged with manslaughter.  It's really a case of knowing the whole story before passing judgment.

I think arresting her is going too far really. If a doctor delivers a baby that doesn't live, they don't get arrested. But I could see why they might want to bring her in for questioning just to clear up the matter.

I also saw the story on Nancy Grace and, I think, Dr. Drew.  I don't remember the exact details, but she is and should be in trouble.  She insisted on delivering the second twin, knowing there were problems.
