Do you use a jack to hold up your car when fixing it?
« on: March 16, 2014, 03:34:31 pm »
My brother who passed away when he was 28 years old while trying to fix his car and the jack gave way and the low chaise on the car crushed him to death. He died instantly. So if you have to work underneath your car put cinder blocks or anything sturdy to make sure this doesn't happen to you.

Cinder blocks are not safer.  I have known of people who used those and they also let the car fall.  I also know a guy who was working on a motor and they had it secured by a chain on a tree limb and the limb broke and it fell on him and killed him.  I would think the safest thing would be the metal ramps.  I don't know.  Maybe a combo of more than one thing.

Sorry about your brother :(

Buy a good jack. Those that come in your car are junk. Always put your car in park and be  sure to block the wheels.
